Publisher's Synopsis

The diversity of plant species in China is extraordinary. With an area approximately that of the continental United States, China has nearly twice as many vascular plant species, about 30,000 or one-eighth of the world's total. The Flora of China describes and otherwise documents these species, and these volumes of beautifully detailed illustrations, drawn by the finest Chinese botanical artists, complement the species descriptions in the text volumes. Volume 14 includes representatives of Apiaceae, or Umbelliferae, which contain a number of vegetables and herbs that are essential to world cuisines such as anise, carrot, celery, cilantro or coriander, cumin, dill, fennel, and parsley.
